Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question, please ask us on the Contact page, we'll get an answer and put it up here ASAP.

So, its finally open, right?

Yep...September 24th, 2006 was our opening day.

Where are the Brick Banks?

They're coming...spring 2007. We just couldn't quite finish them in time for the Grand Opening in 2006. They'll be done first thing next year after things thaw out.

Will the park be indoor or outdoor...and will there be lights?

The Missoula Skatepark is outdoors and is fully lit. The lights come on whenver additional lighting is needed during the hours that the park is open, 7AM - 11PM, 365 days ayear.

Where is it going to be located?

McCormick Park - near Orange Street Bridge. (Click Here for a map)

Will it cost anything?

This will be a completely free skatepark.

Will it be a street course or transitions and bowls?

Hopefully there is something for everyone in the park. We have an extensive street section, a large bowl and a kidney shaped smaller bowl. Thrasher Magazine said that this was arguably a 'top 5' park in the U.S.

How big will it be?

The final footprint came in at just over 15,000 square feet.

Are bikes going to be allowed?

No, unfortunately bikes won't be allowed in the Missoula Skatepark, only skateboards and inline skates. If you are a disappointed with this news please contact the Missoula Parks and Recreation Department. They are very helpful and will let you know what steps need to be taken to get your own bike park with the City of Missoula.

Here is our official response from the MSA and Missoula Parks and Recreation to the question regarding why bikes will not be allowed in the Missoula Skatepark:

"Mixing bicyclists and skaters (including in-line and skateboarders, not scooters) within the design planned for Missoula's skate park creates safety and maintenance issues due to the conflict caused in the different equipment, styles, and speeds of the users. The Missoula Skatepark Association and Missoula Parks and Recreation Department extend an invitation to cyclists to provide guidance and develop a park to specifically meet cyclist's goals. Bikes will not be allowed in the Missoula Skatepark."

How can I get involved?

We often need volunteers for various fundraising events , if you are interested in getting more involved, please contact us.
