Missoula Skatepark Association

Official Groundbreaking Celebration

March 30, 2006

By now you've all probably seen the piles of dirt, holes, and poured concrete that is the beginning of the Missoula Skatepark in McCormick Park. Please join the MSA on April 6th (on location) for the official groundbreaking ceremony and see what’s been happening first hand! Plus, there will be continued celebration afterwards at 6:30 at the Old Post with raffle prizes and more.

The groundbreaking ceremony will also be used as an opportunity to kick off our “Skate To The Finish” fundraising campaign for Phase 2 of the park. An additional $150,000 is needed to construct Phase 2 (street section) and we want to wrap up the project all at once…THIS SUMMER! Here’s the BIG NEWS. We’ve just received an unbelievable pledge of $100,000 in 2-to-1 matched funding - so the real total that we need to raise is just $50,000.

The math goes like this:

  • We raise $50,000
  • Our donor matches it 2-to-1: $100,000
  • $100,000 + $50,000 = We get the $150,000 necessary to finish the entire park. Sweet!

Break out the checkbooks…it’s a sprint to the finish.

This additional funding is needed before June 21st in order to keep our construction crew (Grindline Skateparks) on site and working on Phase 2. Don't worry, we won’t ask you to help us with any telethons or door-to-door fundraising. We’re gonna do this MSA-style with opportunities to donate at celebrations, competitions, movie premiers, BBQ’s and more. Remember, we’re a 501(c)3 so every dollar you donate, every brick you get engraved, & every shirt you buy is 100% tax deductible….plus you can do it all on our website:

Thanks...we look forward to seeing you all on April 6th at 4:30 PM in McCormick Park (or afterwards at the Old Post at 6:30 PM).
