September 24, 2006

Okay...so you watched the park being built all summer and then school started and it still wasn't done. Here's the part where we make it up to you....the official press release reads:

Activision’s new video game, Tony Hawk’s Project 8, is helping bring skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and his band of touring skaters and vertical BMXers to Missoula, MT on September 24th at noon for the FREE grand opening of the newly named “MOBASH” Skatepark in McCormick Park.

Tony Hawk will be also be bringing in his high tech vertical skate ramp just for this event. Some of the world’s best action sports athletes will be riding the ramp AND Missoula’s new, permanent concrete skatepark. The cast of characters includes Tony Hawk and his son Riley, Bam Margera, Andrew Reynolds, Mike Vallely, Mike Escamilla, Shaun Stulz, Justin Figueroa, Alex Chalmers, David Loy, Taylor Smith and more. The vert demo will include Kevin Staab, Jason Ellis, Dennis McCoy, Neal Hendrix and Jean Postec. This preliminary list is subject to change.

This may be your chance to get on TV or even Tony’s next Secret Skate Park DVD. Filming of this event is taking place for potential use on some of your favorite TV networks as well as a potential Secret Skate Park tour DVD.

Spectators of the event are asked to please consider using alternative transportation to get to McCormick Park. Parking is very limited in this area for an event of this size. Those who do drive will be allowed to park in McCormick Park and in the nearby Ogren Park/Allegiance Field lot. Parking is not allowed on any of the Missoula Park trail system or the residential neighborhood to the south of McCormick Park. Additionally, overnight camping is not permitted in Missoula Parks.

The MOBASH Skatepark is located in the Northeast corner of McCormick Park at the base of Orange Street Bridge in Missoula, Montana. Please visit http://missoulaskatepark.org/map/ for more information.

Construction began on the state-of-the-art skate complex on March 6th, 2006 and the park will be open to the public from 7AM – 11PM daily following this event on 9/24/2006.

Are you kidding? Tony, Bam, Vallely, Reynolds, Hendrix, Ellis....WOW. We're as impressed and excited as you are. There couldn't be a better way to open our new park. Speaking of...anyone seen our 3 photos in the latest Thrasher? The reviews are coming in and the pros love our park.

We hope that you will help get the word out on this great event and please contact us with any questions. See all of you on the 24th!
